HER-Story and HIS-Story

I remember how cool we thought it was back in the 60's when women began "rewriting Herstory" by changing and rearranging those few letters  - as well as burning our bras/ just not wearing the pesky things and started taking our-then-tiny hammers to the ol' glass ceiling . . .

And now, Darlin's we've got someone, someone named Hillary making more HERstory with a real run at the presidency.  A woman at a Hillary rally, asked why she was there said it was so her daughter could have the first woman president.  What a shame it's THIS woman - who is YES, very smart - like a computer who knows ALL the facts but - oh, small things - plays the same dirty politics with her husband backing her up, goes back on her "pledges," lacks the ability to vote AGAINST a war that was so wrong and doesn't have the heart or guts to admit to a mistake.

But then we have HIStory. .. Barack!  Another first! But that's not the reason to vote for him - any more than H being a woman is the reason to vote for her!  How 'bout him?  How about a President of the Harvard Law Review who worked for the poor on the streets of Chicago instead of joining one of the major law firms that courted him when he graduated?   How about a guy who not only has policies in his pocket that can change our country - and our world - but is inspiring enough to unite us all - all across our red and blue states and across the aisles in Washington - where if we Don't have the right president, Nothing will ever change .. .

I will climb off my soapbox here, and let Oprah, Caroline and Michelle take my place along with all those other volunteers I've met - college kids and 75 year olds - rich and poor - in rainbow colors - that believe that an America like-it-once-was - strong and proud and honorable in its actions -  is possible!

Beatty, who appears to be a little black schnauzer but is in reality The Zen Master of Love, climbs up and curls into a circle in my lap and I feel calmer . . . but not too calm.
